Beta
The Valley Head High School Senior Beta Club was established on January 30, 1937. Eighty-seven years later, our motto and mission remain the same: “Let Us Lead by Serving Others.” Membership invitations are issued to students each year based on their academic achievement and strong character, and new members are typically inducted during the fall. Our current roster has 38 members. Our officers for 2023-24 are President Chance Pearson, Vice President Hunter Gorham, Secretary Raegan Key, and Treasurer Cayden Collins. Our sponsors are Rhonda Lasser (lead sponsor), Jim Lasser, Christi Black, and Cindy Harrison.
During the 2023-24 school year, our club has participated in a number of individual and group service projects. Group highlights for the current year include creating goodie bags and handwritten cards for all Valley Head faculty and staff during National Beta Club Founder’s Day Week in October, participating in the Valley Head Veterans Day program in November, and volunteering for a day in December with Samaritan’s Purse at the Operation Christmas Child Distribution Center in Kennesaw, Georgia. As of January 2024, our club has earned 976 service hours for the year, and we hope to add to this total with additional service projects this spring.
Our club will be attending the Alabama State Senior Beta Convention in Montgomery on March 15-16, 2024, and club members will be competing in a number of group and individual competitions in both academics and visual arts.

The Valley Head Junior Beta Club attended the state convention in 2023 and brought home 28 wins with multiple state titles. This allowed them to compete at Nationals over the summer in Louisville, KY where this club brought home 10 national titles. The Junior Beta Club will be attending state convention again this year in Montgomery, Al on February 12-14 for a chance to advance to nationals this summer in Savannah, GA.
